Waffles and fries and chocolate and beer= Mmmmmmm
I left this morning from Amsterdam and spend the afternoon walking around Antwerp. More than 70% of the worlds diamonds are traded through Antwerp. The gorgeous train station is surrounded by tons of small jewlery shops. There's lots of rich guys driving mercedes and maseratis, and plenty of gated off alley ways full of fancy gardens. I only had a few hours there, so I walked across the town and back, stopping at all the historic sites on the way.
I got into Brugges at about 17:45 somewhat nervous because I had no plans for a place to sleep. My travel guide book only had 2 hostels listed. As usual, things just worked out. I love when that happens. Right next to the exit of the train station was a kiosk advertising a hostel with a phone attached to it. So I picked up and called. For 15 Euro I got a very nice hostel with a great location, free wifi, free breakfast, discount card to all the city attractions and a free Belgian beer sampler if I bought dinner at the bar/restaurant. I was starving when I got in, and that sampler sounded good so I ordered a chicken pineapple pizza and got my free sampler. It was definitely the best meal of the trip (better than puffin in Iceland), and eating it outside on the street with perfect weather just made it even better.
Tomorrow I'm exploring Brugges some more and then going to Brussels where a guy my dad's been working with has generously offered to let me stay a couple nights with him and his family.

Antwerp sounds like a great place for single women...diamonds and maseratis...pure heaven!
Belgium is Danny's place of birth so be kind. Did you ever see the movie, "In Bruges"? Don't miss it! You'll like it even more now. Sammie
I'm sorry, did I read that incorrectly? You ATE a PUFFIN?!
Don't you know you're only supposed to eat the ugly animals, like cows chickens and fish?
