I'm Home!!!
I made it back alive! Sorry I forgot to update this, it's been a busy start to my final semester at RPI. I had an AMAZING summer, and will be posting pictures online sometime in the next few weeks. If you can't wait, I can show you pictures on my computer in person and tell you all sorts of crazy stories.

The GREAT Wall
The Chinese say you cannot become a true hero until you've visited the Great Wall.

Beijing
I got to Beijing around dinner time today and checked into my hostel. The airport is beautiful and the highways from the airport are lined with newly planted trees and dolled up with flower boxes every few feet.
The pollution here is even worse than Hong Kong or Shanghai. The sky is a dull gray, and the sun is orange. Aside from being depressing, it makes navigating more difficult because I can't see farther than a city block, so I can't see distant landmarks. They're onto plan B which involves shutting down even more factories, and taking 90% of personal cars off the road, and it's still pretty bad. Hopefully we'll get some wind or rain to clear it up. Or the government will implement some cloud seeding.

Shanghai
I've been super busy, so no time to write. Sorry! Here's a bunch of random pictures
Shanghai Science and Technology Museum. Probably 5x bigger than any US science museum ive ever been to... and hilariously bad English translations make it even more fun.

Polar bears hate escalators.
This is what happens if you try to order western food. Nasty "pizza" in bag in a box. I sometimes think they look at pictures of our food and say, "yeah I could make that." I also got a "Ceasar salad" that was just lettuce with mayo on it and the crutons were just squares of soft bread.
Or your head will fall off.
Cloud 9; bar at the top of the 6th tallest building in the world with some British and Scottish friends I met at my hostel here.
We were in the building on the left (not the giant bottle opener)
Maglev! The Chinese woman taking this picture thought me giving two thumbs up was hilarious.
